Jakarta, Indonesia – After the opening ceremony of the Balikpapan - Samarinda Toll Road Section II, III, and IV in December 2019 conducted by President Joko Widodo, PT WIKA Bitumen resumed asphalt work on the first toll road project on the island of Kalimantan. One of the subsidiaries of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. continues the asphalting work for section I of the WIKA’s mega project. As a sub-contractor, WIKA Bitumen received a contract of Rp. 91 billion after addendum.

The contract for the second toll package with a total length of 99 kilometers has already begun in February 2020. The progress to date has reached 90% of total road works. The scope of WIKA Bitumen's work on this project includes AC-WC (Asphalt Concrete-Wearing Course), AC-BC (Asphalt Concrete-Binder Course), and ACB (Asphalt Concrete-Base). Going according to the target, WIKA Bitumen will complete the section I toll road until the end of July 2020, so that it can be used this year.

From the Balikpapan - Samarinda Toll Road project, the company hopes to become a specialist contractor for paving and maintaining toll roads throughout Indonesia. Also to carry the big name WIKA Bitumen outside of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. and National Strategic Projects.
